Who am I?
Who am I? My name is Valerie Mattson. I am from Saint Cloud, Minnesota. I went to Tech High School, but I graduated last year. I am studying Spanish and Teaching English as a Second Language here at Saint Cloud State. I am a freshman. I spent eight days in Costa Rica this summer doing service projects. This summer, I also spent a week at the Boundary Waters with my family. I have two small dogs, one brother, one mom, and one dad. My brother is a freshman in high school. My mom is from Melrose, Minnesota. My dad is from Willmar, Minnesota; however, he was born in Wonju, South Korea. I adopted both of my dogs from the Humane Society. I like all food, but my favorite is avocado. A lot of my friends live in Saint Cloud. I know some from high school, but I met others here at Saint Cloud State. I love Christian music, such as Toby Mac. I always have Air One, which is a Christian radio station, playing on the radio in my car. I love reading novels that reflect on global issues and involve a positive message. I enjoy swimming, running, biking, exercising, and playing badminton. In high school, I swam the 100 yard butterfly and the 500 freestyle. Family, friends, and faith are the most important aspects of my life. I am involved in Christ Church Newman Center on the Saint Cloud State campus and plan on becoming involved in other activities that this campus has to offer. I am a lifeguard and teach swimming lessons in the summer. During the school year, I am an office assistant on campus. I plan on studying abroad next year in Chile and am also considering studying in South Korea. I love to travel and learn about other cultures.
